Abstract
The original proof of Bell’s theorem assumes a lack of interference when calculating probabilities for hidden-variable theories. Accounting for interference, by doing arithmetic on probability amplitudes and only then applying the Born rule, allows a local-realist theory to compute the correct expectation values for Stern-Gerlach and photon polarization Bell tests. While standard quantum mechanics equates entanglement with inseparability for pure states, the relevant Bell pairs are separable. Bell tests then do not provide evidence against local realism, but only against local-realist theories that ignore interference.
